“In Communion”
At Your Sweet Gates we gather, multitude called, beckoned, drawn by Your Fullness.
Common in our needing, our thirst and our emptiness,
common in our brokenness and hearts worn, sore, tender.
We gather bowing at Your Knowing Gate,
Mask and pretense fall.
Met with Mercy, we breathe the air of Your Kindness.
You wash over us with cleansing Waters,
knowing our every wound and wondering.
At Your Sweet Gates we gather,
hounded by a biting bitterness,
loud, so loud and persistent in its snarling.
Common in our needing, we gather,
falling in surrender at Your Defending Gate
and You, in Your power usher us in, into Your Courts of Caring.
The Fresh Air of Hope hovers over us.
Our mouths, no more menaced into silence, open, common now with asking,
Great Creator in Your Mercy….. hear our prayer.
